International Children’s Day

Abhishek Kansakar, co-founder and financial advisor to the Ek Pahila Foundation led the "Handwashing Awareness" campaign on the occasion of International Children's Day, June 1. The campaign focused on teaching school children effective techniques of handwashing and its importance. A dozen soap bars were distributed to the school along with an illustrated diagram which is intended to help the students remember the techniques that they have been taught today. Dear All, After months of planning and fund raising, Ek Pahila Foundation has finally started the construction work for the retention/support wall for the school and is scheduled to be completed in approximately two weeks. We are very eager to complete this project before the onset of the monsoon rain. We are certain that this wall will help prevent the school building, bathroom and the water tap from further damage as a result of flooding, landslide and mudslides that this region is very prone to.  Our blog will be updated with the pictures once the entire structure is complete. On January 4, 2012, our foundation celebrated one year anniversary by supporting our first Literacy Program for the elderly at Devisthan Primary School. Currently, the country faces almost 11hours of electricity shortage everyday. Due to such circumstances, students often continue their lessons by bringing their own torch lights. Our foundation distributed chargeable lamps and stationary needed in order to motivate the elderly who attend this program. Moreover, since most women in the village are illiterate, they are financially and domestically dependent on their husbands.
