June 2013 : Debut of the collaboration with the school of deaf children in Katmandou

For their third project, Ek Pahila collaborated and worked closely with the school of deaf children in Katmandou. The school was founded by the nepali doctor L.N Prasad and his american wife Suzan Hermannan in 1966. Today, the school opens its doors to 445 children, aged between 3 and 20 years old, sorted into a wide range of classes; from learning sign language to degree courses. Water supply initiative at Kali Devi School

2 water tanks and 2 taps connected together via a simple pipeline now provide water to 177 students and 11 staff members at Kali Devi School. For many years, the school constantly faced water shortages due to the lack of a water storage facility and the absence of proper water distribution pipelines. Now, the students and teachers have complete access to water during school time. Medical visit day for the students of Kali Devi

Ek Pahila foundation organised a medical visit day for the students of Kali Devi school. This could not have been done without the two volunteer doctors Cécile Castellani and Caroline Thomas. Kali Devi school: Installing a fresh water storage system for the bathrooms and more than 175 children

Nowadays, the Kali Devi school receives drinking water from a source that is used for the other villagers. Drinking water is accessible for 4 hours a day for the 5 teachers and 175 students. Yet, due to a lack of water tanks, it cannot be restocked. Therefore, Ek Pahila donated two large tanks; one reserved for the bathrooms, and the other connected to a water fountain which allows the children to drink from all day. The children drink their first sips of water from the fountain. The photographs below capture the day the biggest water tank was installed.
